A couple of years ago I encountered an article published by the Seyfo Center1, written by Sabri Atman, as well as this video by Assyria TV2. These did not talk of the usual challenges nowadays. Instead, both are preoccupied with ‘Muslim Assyrians’. These would supposedly be the offspring of kidnapped and forcefully converted Assyrians during Seyfo (or so called ‘crypto Assyrians’). The question imposes itself on us: do they share our identity? Before we continue, I refer you to this short article. It lays out the two essential elements of the Assyrian identity.
